Local Fruit Stands

I am fortunate to live just down the road from this fruit and veggie stand. I have bought many watermelons and cantaloupes here, and lately they've had muscadine and scuppernong grapes that I can get to supplement my stash.

Between this place and the farmer's market, I rarely have to buy food at a regular grocery store. At a regular grocery store, the fruit has usually been picked green, shipped some distance, and put in a refrigerator before being displayed in a rather ugly setting under flourescent lights in air conditioning. It's not natural!

So while the local produce is still rockin', get thee to a fruit stand or farmer's market. The fruit is fresh, beautiful, local, and cheap. Plus you get to pick out your goodies outdoors. Gotta love the fresh air. Boo on air conditioning.

  3. Hi Julie! I just stumbled upon your blog while writing in mine. I have a question, though. And please don't take this the wrong way, I'm genuinely curious. Why only fruits and not vegetables? I understand the animal thing, but what is the vegetable reasoning for not eating them? Please, educate me. Thanks a bunch!

  5. Hi, BluFaery! Love your name. ♥ Fruit is THE correct food for humans. We are natural frugivores, not herbivores. Herbivores like cows, horses, and deer have different type digestive systems designed to handle the very fibrous greens and veggies. Hope this helps.

    Holli. . . will send you a pm. ♥
