Hair

Girls LOVE to talk about hair. Hair is all things girlie.

If two women who are strangers meet in a public restroom, they will say hello politely and then IMMEDIATELY start talking about their hair like they are long-lost sistahs. Ha, ha. It's true! Hair is our universal language.

Chris Rock has just made a documentary film called Good Hair about the quest of dark-skinned people for. . . good hair. He has to be the funniest person EVER.

So seriously, I just took this picture of my own hair. Not to brag, I am no supermodel, but I am almost 55 and this is my REAL HAIR. I do not color my hair or put any products on it. My husband thinks I must be hiding the hair dye somewhere.

I believe that it is not only magical fruit which gives me this shiny healthy hair, but more importantly the LACK of dead stuff, especially animal "products" and artificial oils and salts. What would make a person's hair turn white and fall out? That's something to ponder. Kinda scary to think about.

I cut my own hair. I haven't been to a salon for over 6 years. Think of the money and time I save, not to mention missing out on those toxic chemicals. Plus, it is a GREAT feeling to be self-sufficient.

Anybody wanna talk hair??? ☺

  1. I'll talk hair!

I'm 51 and my hair's its natural colour (pics of me on website and blog).

In fact, the colour of your hair, Jules, mostly dark with (natural) coppery highlights, looks identical to mine!

There are a few raw high-fruiters who are quite grey, but that could have happened earlier in their lives...

And I'm convinced that premature greying, even greying per se has something to do with our lifestles, and hope it's OK to post a link to an article here that discusses the same:

  2. Hi, Debbie. . . Yes, you and your hair are gorgeous! We DO have similar hair. And thank you so much for that link. . . it's an excellent (!) comprehensive article. I agree that genetics plays a part but is definitely not the whole story. As time goes on, lifestyle factors become more apparent. So it'll be interesting to see how long our dark hair continues. I don't want to be smug about it. But I am pretty sure that doing without animal products for so many years, for both of us, is HUGE.

Your writing is intelligent and thoughtful and I love your blog, Debbie! Well done! ♥

  3. Dear Julie ♥,
your hair is gorgeous. It looks really beautiful and healthy.

Whilst I agree that genetics can be a part of greying, I also think that eating our natural diet is a brilliant way help us to keep our natural hair colour.
I think other factors, such as stress, can affect hair pigment; but a natural diet and a hygienic lifestyle are, to my mind, the best hair care products.

Do you use any hair products Julie? I stopped in June 2008, I like my hair with just sunshine and rainwater on it.
If you do use products on your hair, which do you like to use?

    Love and Peaches XX.

  5. Thank you, Anne. . . and thanks for reminding us that food is not the only element that affects our health. But I know you agree with this, I always think of the huge amount of damage that is done to folks on all levels with dead, junky, processed food. It is stealing everyone's health, youth, and well-being and making people look older sooner. Fruit is the ultimate rejuvenator, along with sleep.

Thank you for writing and your hair really looks amazing! ♥
