Daily Fruit + Play

Yesterday I ate:

9:00 . . . juice of 10 valencia oranges
1:00 . . . handful of medjool dates
3:00 . . . juice of 12 valencia oranges
4:00 . . . 4 bananas + 8 medjool dates
6:00 . . . a few pickling cukes + 1 lb. grape tomatoes + 10 medjool dates
7:00 . . . still snacking on dates, tomatoes, cukes

Play: ballet and stretching

My friend Yogaranka pointed out to me that she found out that some places might be soaking their dates in sugar water to keep them moist and sweet. So when I went back to this particular middle eastern bakery/restaurant to get some more medjools, I asked and they assured me that their dates are pure and not treated with sugar or anything else, which I already thought was the case. But I guess it doesn't hurt to ask if you are unsure.

Not that it would kill you to eat a few dates laced with sugar. But OK, processed sugar IS a poison.

But I have to say that these dates are OUTSTANDING! When I have bananas and dates together they taste like a moist vanilla cake with caramel frosting. I wish everyone could know how wonderful this way of eating and life is. It is so delicious, so simple, and wonderful on every level of your being. And you get to eat dessert all day long! That's lots of love. ♥

  3. Wow. They are beautiful dates. I get mine from the Whole Food Store. Do you soak them before mixing them with your banana pudding? I tried that but the dates were a little too hard so instead I mix my bananas with blueberries which is ok.

  4. Yum! I'm always telling people how much my food tastes like crazy good desserts and cakes, but I don't think they believe me!

I know you love tomatoes. Have you ever tried a type called Russian Black? My Pop is growing them right now and they're just...the best :)

  5. Dear Sandrine. . . I am still doing secret obsessions, but I am just not writing about them because it was frustrating to people. Ha, ha. Now I just call them acrobatics, since that's what they are. There are some things I need to keep to myself. ♥

Thank you so much, Harmony! It's good to hear from you. Blessings to you, too. ♥

Hi, Fred. . . I don't soak my dates. And I wouldn't bother buying dates that looked dried out. I wait until I can find some that look fresh and juicy. I either dip the dates in the banana pudding or just eat banana pieces whole with the dates. Hope this helps. : )

Hi, Elizabeth. . . I've never had Russian Blacks, but I'll keep my eye out. There are so many varieties of all fruits that we could hardly try them all! What a blessing! ♥

  6. :) I love this thoughts that you are "obsess" by acrobatics !!! can you give me an example (or more :D ) of what you do, as it could inspire me, because I like it very much !

yesterday's night, I woke up from bed to do some handstands (I'm not if this term is right) and tips, and bridge...

  7. Hi julie, I have been eating a fruit and leafy green diet for about three weeks now. If I ignore the voice in my head (telling me it is too much sugar at one time), it takes about a pound of medjools (as a monomeal) for me to feel satified. Is it okay to let myself eat this much? Is my body demanding a lot because I am new to the diet? what is your experience with dates and quantity? Thanks, Esmee

  8. Hi, Sandrine. . . Well, I enjoy taking ballet classes, and I teach yoga, and I also do some gymnastics stuff on the side. I would say that if a person works on handstands, splits in all directions, and backbends, that would give you a good base for doing lots of fun stuff. Glad you are having fun! : )

Dear Esmee. . . The only person who can really answer your question is you! Just like no one can tell me what is the right amount for me, but me. But a pound of dates does not sound like too much. . . not at all. However, I would like to balance the dates (dense and sugary) with something with more liquid, like oranges or melons at some point that day. As you become more experienced, you will have more confidence. I like what Dr. Doug Graham says, "Eat, eat, eat, all you want, no problems!" Ha, ha. Hope this helps. ♥

  9. Many thanks for your input. I have read Dr. Graham, and i am using his book as my guiding light. But i appreciate here from someone who has been on the diet for a while. Blessings, Esmee
