Daily Fruit + Play

Yesterday I ate:

9:00 . . . a few glasses honey tangerine juice
12:00 . . more tangerine juice, fresh-pressed
3:00 . . . 1 large cantaloupe
5:00 . . . ~ 20 honey tangerines
7:00 . . . more honey tangerines + 1 lb. campari tomatoes

Play: walking/running outside, dance, stretching

A few days ago I got 8 dozen honey tangerines and they were gone in a couple of days! Between me and my husband they don't stand a chance. And I was thinking that may be the last of them since I bought out the store. Then yesterday I went out urban foraging and found another supply at a different store. So I bought THEM out and got 9 dozen! What a coup! I was in heaven! I guess I'm just going to go around town snatching up the last of the honeys. I have no shame.

This year their orange syrup seems even better than ever. I am blissfully dizzily drunk on their soothing sweet nectar. I feel like a baby drinking mother's milk when I drink the juice. I am in love.

Yesterday I was thinking about how I used to prepare a meal for guests. With a salad + dressing, a vegetarian entree, some bread, and a dessert, there would be like a million ingredients in there! The salad dressing alone had 7-8 ingredients, then say another 7-8 in the salad, probably 10-20 in the entree, 8 in the bread, and another 10 in the dessert. That's around 50 ingredients that the body has to deal with like a chemistry laboratory! Just in one meal! No wonder my brain felt mixed up all the time. : )

Now I usually have ONE ingredient at a time. (Sometimes I go crazy and have 2 or even 3!)

And the one ingredient I currently cannot live without is honey tangerines. I am going to go into mourning when they are gone. I will be like a drug addict in a panic, I fear. Sigh.

  1. I've been wondering if you always buy organic.

  2. Hi, Debbie. . . No, I buy some organic, but most of it is not, to be honest. I go for quality first and foremost. And I do the best I can in an imperfect world. :)

  3. Hi Jules,

Just want to let you know that I have decided to go on a 100% fruit diet starting today. However I don't want to get underweight too much.I was thinking buying a lot of bananas and making that pudding that you mentioned several times in your blog except that I add blueberries in it. I believe that if I eat enough bananas, organic dates , figs I will get enough calories to keep a decent weight? I am currently at 162 for a height of 6.2 on a Fruitarian-Rawfoodit diet. Of course I intend to eat plenty of citrus fruits , tomatoes and so on. I am like you I don't buy organic, they are too expensive.

    Thank you,

    Fred.

  4. Hi, Fred. . . That's good news! Sounds like you are prepared to do well. I like what Doug Graham says: "Eat, eat, eat, all you want. No problems." :)

  5. Hi Jules,

I was in the grocery store this afternoon, and I spotted some really yummy looking tangerines. They were just calling me over - they had a really dark orange color and looked heavy with juice. I wasn't going to buy tangerines because I usually get my citrus at the farmer's market. But when I got closer I could see that they were honey tangerines, and I remembered your passion for them. Also, they're from Florida, and we don't usually see Florida citrus here in California.

Well, I bought 7 of them - they weren't organic, and I thought I'd better test them out before I bought my usual huge amount. And when I got home I juiced them up and...

OMG, I'm in heaven!!!! You're right, they're unbelievably delicious. I can't remember tasting anything that amazing in a while. I'm going back to that store and buying at least ten pounds if not 20, lol. I think I've found a new love!

Thanks for turning me on to these. They're really amazing. I've been buzzing around ever since!
