Daily Fruit + Play

Yesterday I ate:

7:00 . . . 1/4 watermelon
9:00 . . . 1/2 watermelon
1:00 . . . 4 bananas
3:00 . . . bag of cherries
5:00 . . . hunk of jakfruit (in photo)
6:00 . . . more jakfruit
8:00 . . . 1/4 watermelon

Play: dance, stretching, yoga

This was a nice surprise at the local Whole Foods: jakfruit! Well, it was cut and packaged in plastic, and it was STILL really good. I can only imagine how wonderful it would be fresh and ripe right off the tree. You eat the yellow parts and it tastes like Juicy Fruit gum. And to me, it has a crisp and refreshing feel and effect. I still have some left for today and I am really happy about it. It was my first thought this morning: Oh, boy. . . I have more jakfruit today! : )

So yes, jakfruit tastes like Juicy Fruit gum, and bananas taste like bubble gum to me. So I was really reliving my childhood yesterday, as I used to be a bubble gum fanatic! Sometimes I can't believe that I really get to eat sugar all day, and REAL sugar, at that. I am sure that the fake stuff would taste abhorrent to me now.

The cherries are really good now as summer's abundance grows. Yesterday, my husband and I met up to run some errands and wound up under a tree somewhere, eating cherries, one after another. Sometimes, life really IS just a bag of cherries! These fruitarian moments throughout the day are always so special, so REAL, so beautiful, so life-affirming. Gratitude. ♥

And I'm looking forward to picking up some local tomatoes and pickling cukes (also called Kirby cukes) at the fruit stand near my house later today. I need more watermelons, as well. In case I haven't told you 87 times, watermelon is my favorite fruit! Well, unless I am eating mangoes off a tree, or some fresh mamey, or muscadine grapes warm off the vine, or . . . . .

Really, how is it that not EVERYONE is fruitarian??? You are missin' out, peeps, BIG TIME!

I was wondering if you noticed any wrinkles go way or change in the elasticity of your skin as you went fruitarian.

  3. Thank you so much, Alyssa! ♥

Hi Debbie . . . I'd say that changes in my skin was one of the first positive changes to happen. I didn't really have lots of wrinkles, exactly, but my face was bloated and red and the skin had large pores and some breakouts. Within just a few days/weeks, my skin cleared up and became so soft! I lost the bags under my eyes, and all my skin became very nice. My skin is so soft that it still amazes me. I just love to touch my own skin. Yes, much greater elasticity. I really do need to put up some before and afters, don't I? :)

  4. Would love to see some before and afters. Your profile picture is really hard to see what you really look like.

  5. Hello and thanks. My daughter gave me your site address, so this is my first visit. I have been raw, but not only fruit. I eat greens and some veggies. I hope to learn more as I read through your archives.

But I wanted to mention that I'm 69 and used to smoke so I do/did have a lot of wrinkles. People are now commenting on how my skin has changed. I don't have a good mirror, because I didn't like what I used to see, so I'm taking their word for it. Softer and less wrinkles in only two months on mostly fruit. thanks again, Susan

  6. Hello and thanks, this may be a duplicate post!! I mentioned that my daughter gave me your site address and I will be reviewing all of your former posts. I am 69 and have been doing the 80-10-10 program for two months only and working up to that over the last six months.

Recently, folks have been commenting on my skin, and that's why I am posting this. I was a smoker (for 20 years, 25 years ago, I stopped), but the wrinkles were surely there. Now people are saying how beautiful my skin is looking. I don't have a mirror because I didn't used to like what I saw!! so, now maybe I need to at least take a look so I can see the difference also :) Thanks again for your blog....Susan

  7. Hi, Susan! Thank you so much for writing. Good for you at 69! Girl Power! ♥ I love hearing about your beautiful skin, and I do understand about avoiding mirrors. Cooked and processed food sure does a number on a person! (And smoking, too.) Maybe you will start liking mirrors again. : )

  8. Hi Jools

For the first time in the UK, yesterday I saw fresh jackfruit! Gerrard St, Soho (London W1)-they were cutting huge slices off a whole fruit. I've been feasting on it today - absolutely beautiful! According to Wikipedia, these are 'invasive' (ie spread like weeds) in some parts of Brazil!

  9. Hey, Debbie. . . Lucky score on the jakfruit! Maybe we should move to Brazil. : ) ♥
