3:00 . . . 6 peaches + 4 medjool dates
5:00 . . . a few tomatoes + pickling cukes
6:00 . . . 2 quarts muscadine grapes
7:00 . . . 2 quarts muscadine grapes

Whoa. Where does the time go? This summer is FLYING!
But right now is really my favorite time of year. The local produce is at its' best and the days are warm and sunny.
I'm not usually much of a peach person, but they are SO good right now and with a few juicy dates, it is DESSERT all day! Chloe is checkin' 'em out . . . they smell good even to her!
And I am very excited and happy because my beloved muscadines are in. Not only that, but I found a new grower this year who is growing them certified organic! Man, they are super sweet. I am drunk with happiness on these grapes. ♥ The growers were surprised when I wanted to buy 8 quarts at once. Shucks. That's nothing! These are the best grapes I've ever had in my life. They taste like a Nehi soda, but much MUCH better. ; )
I'm eating some right now. Sigh. Blissfully legally drunk.
Hey Julie! Do you think the grape grower would ship some grapes to me in NY? I rarely ever find good grapes here, and would love to check out these muscadines that you talk about....

ReplyDeleteHi again, Michele . . . I just found out that they do NOT ship their grapes. He told me they have never done it, and that he would imagine they would not fare well in the shipping since they pick their grapes perfectly ripe. Usually when fruit is shipped it is picked green. But since you are in NY are you near a Wegman's? I was just in one last week and asked the produce manager if they had any muscadine grapes. He said they would be getting some in the next 2-3 weeks. Call around and maybe you can find some where you are. You could try fruit wholesalers also. We all have to become good fruit hunters on this lifestyle! ♥

ReplyDeleteThere is a Wegman's in NJ, but I'm not sure if they'd have the same produce as the ones by you, and it is a it far from me.
Somehow I will find these famous mucadines!
